Tips For Helping Your Baby Sleep Through The Night
As new parents, one of the questions we all wonder is how to get my baby sleep through the night. Getting your baby sleep through the night can be a real game changer because that means as parents, we can sleep much better than waking up every two hours. With a better sleep, not only we could have energy to deal with the crazy day, also that will put you into a better mood. Here are some tips comes from personal experience, which I believe, can help some of the babies sleep through the night.
#1 Nighttime routine
Everyone is talking about how nighttime routine could help baby sleep better and fall asleep faster, and that's definitely true. Baby loves routine. But the key of the nighttime routine is persistence. Basically you do the same preparation for nighttime sleeping every night, even in the same order of steps. That will let the baby realize it's time to sleep, and sure will help them to go into the sleeping mode faster.
#2 Comfortable room temperature and suitable clothing
It's important to keep the room on a suitable temperature at all time and ideally, when you find out the layers of the pajamas that suits your baby's liking to the room temperature, you stick to it. If possible, always dress your baby in the same style of the pajamas. For example, if the baby likes to wear sleepsuits for sleeping at night, then you could dress her in sleepsuits every night. Suitable pajamas will make sure they are comfortable sleeping all night.
#3 Keep the room dark
It may not sound like a good idea, because babies might be frightened by the darkness. But, no, darkness can lead them into deep sleep. Also darkness at night could help them to identify day and night, which associates with differentiating day time naps and nighttime sleeping. Simply just turn the light off in the room as your baby is ready to sleep.
#4 Train your baby to fall asleep on their own
This is a big topic. Teaching your baby falling asleep on their own is not that easy, but it's the key of keeping your baby sleeping through the night. Babies who could fall asleep on their own will not need to be helped to fall asleep again after they wake up in the middle of the night, that can save a lot of work of parents trying to put their babies back into sleep. Also, being able to putting herself back to sleep can ensure the baby a much better sleep.
#5 Act fast to your baby's night feeding
As soon as your baby starts to wake up and cry for feeding, you get ready to feed her. Do not keep the baby waiting and crying for long time, that would wake them up completely. And that's not what you want. So what we are looking here is the baby's feeding with her eyes shut. And as soon as feeding is finished, you very gently put the baby back to bed. And at this point, the baby is back to sleep.
These tips are what works personally and from experience only.
